I travelled to Manchester city center recently and found this place in the area around Afflecks Palace which I think would be perfect for my magazine photoshoot. I think that it looks quite urban and edgy which in my opinion, will compliment my model very well.

Research and Planning: Make Up Test

This was my first idea for a make up design for my main model. I wanted her to have an innocent look about her but I wanted to dress her in a rock style with leather and jeans. However the first attempt to do this look on my model failed as it did not match her hair colour. I then decided that I wanted to make her make up a darker colour so I decided on a look more like this.

I will do this for my model but in more of a bright blue colour. We based her outfit around her blue make up and she ended up carrying on the blue theme. In the end her make up looked more like this.

In the beginning I was going to use my friend Lolly as my main model but due to other commitments she had she was not available to do this for me. Instead I asked my close friend Sarah who was happy to help me. She also has the right look to be one of my models and she is very willing to help in any way she can.

Today I focused more on my contents page and this is what stage I am up to. Today I also typed up my double page spread story ready for when I begin my double page spread. This weekend I really need to take some pictures for my magazine and look for a style model for my double page spread.

Research and Planning: My Models

 This is my friend Lolly, I will definitely be using her as one of my magazine models as her sense of style and how she poses herself will represent the rock scene. She has an air of rock attitude around her and I believe she would be perfect for my magazine

 This is Alfie, I would like him to pose for my magazine as he is a drummer and would be able to offer an authenticity to my magazine to help it along. He may require some persuading but I hope that I get him to help me in my photo shoot.

My friend Sarah has offered to help me with my music magazine which I am very pleased about as she also fits with my rock theme. If she wears appropriate clothing and dark make up she will look perfect for my magazine.

As my music magazine is rock with a bit of a punk-pop vibe I want to make sure that the music I represent in it is similar to that represented by similar magazines. Kerrang! also represents rock artists and rock music. As this is my favourite kind of music I will feel most comfortable making a magazine to represent this genre.

When thinking about my magazine I have a good idea of the kinds of shots I want to use. The main image on the cover should be a mid shot of the whole band so that you can clearly see each member and possibly the facial expression they will have. Any other image used on the cover will be more of a close up.

At this very moment in time I am questioning whether to take my images in a city setting or in a park area with trees in the background. So to make sure I am completely happy with the outcome of my images I think I should try two separate photo shoots in two separate locations

These are possible ideas for how I want my models to pose during my cover photo shoot.  As my 'band' will have a front woman I want to make sure that she is the main focus of the photograph therefore she needs to be stood at the front or central.

When making my music magazine I will need to use

 An SLR Camera to take my photographs on, using this kind of camera will make sure my images are clearer more professional.

 Photoshop, to Create my music magazine cover and to edit my photographs. I will need Photoshop to manipulate my photographs until they look the way I want them to look.

 

Adobe In Design, will be used for my contents page and double page spread when I need to add text in columns to make my magazine look more professional and realistic.

An i Mac computer so that my work can be completed and I can use the programs such as Photoshop
